Safer Internet Connection Wizard Instructions for Windows 95

Start the internet setup wizard from your accessories group (in the Internet Tools folder).

Choose "I already have an account with a different service provider" and click "Next >"

Type "Saferinternet" for the name of your service provider. Click "Next>"

Enter the phone number as shown below. BE SURE TO CHOOSE "BRING UP TERMINAL WINDOW AFTER DIALING". This is a very important step! Click "Next>"

    

 
Be sure to us a dial-up number that is local for you. Leave the area code blank.

Type your username with @gurulink.com at the end (username@gurulink.com) and password in the blanks provided. Click "Next>"

Under IP Address, choose "My Internet Provider Automatically assigns me one." Click "Next>".

Be sure to leave the DNS settings blank. Click "Next>"

You may use the Microsoft Exchange client for E-Mail. We do not recommend it. It is VERY slow, and more difficult to operate than Eudora. Do not install it at this time. You can go back later and add it if you choose using the following example. Click "Next>".

You are done with the installation! It wasn't too painful, was it?!? Click "Finish".

To dial into Saferinternet, click on your "My Computer" icon on the desktop, then choose "Dial-Up Networking".

In the "Dial-up Networking" folder, you will see at least two icons. Click the icon labeled "Saferinternet".

After clicking on the "Saferinternet" icon, you will see the following screen. Click on "connect".

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

The modem should now dial, and in a moment you'll be connected to Saferinternet!
